R:12 Christianity
Encountering Israel in the Old Testament times, one cannot do away with the sacrificial system in the big frame of their religious picture. Every time someone, or the people, sins – one needs to kill a sheep or pigeons to offer to God for the appeasement of His intended wrath. The animal is killed and placed on the altar to be burned; the smoke created by such is thought of as perfume in the nostrils of God. Propitiation is simply satisfying God by killing a scapegoat, substituting the death of an innocent beast instead of the sinner. In the end, ...

What's Up?
Photos from Bro Ernie's Funeral
In Memory of Bro. Ernie

Psalm 39:4-7 says “LORD, make me to know my end, And what is the measure of my days,That I may know how frail I am. Indeed, You have made my days as handbreadths, And my age is as nothing before You; certainly every man at his best state is but vapor. Surely every man walks about like a shadow; Surely they busy themselves in vain; He heaps up riches, And does not know who will gather them. And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You.”
Death has its way of catching us by surprise. Who would ever think that our brother, Ernie Arbolario who was at his most jovial self over the phone last Friday will leave us that Sunday. He succumbed to a heart attack at 4:30 in the morning of Nov. 23, 2008.
I was dazed at the reality of Bro. Ernie’s demise. Honestly, I never imagined that I will find myself preaching at his wake. Funny as it seems now, I’ve always wanted to believe that we, the “pioneers” of BCCB, a.k.a. the “young once” will all grow old together, I will go ahead of them and have them preach at my funeral.
Ernie left behind a legacy of life. More than any worldly inheritance he may have stored up for his family, his spiritual investments outweighed them all. As surely as he was imperfect like anyone of us, we know that by God’s grace he did not live his life in vain. Our hearts are with Lidj , their children and the rest of his family as they embrace the grief over their loss but we also rejoice that Ernie’s memories are kept alive in our hearts
forever.
Only God holds all our tomorrows. Ernies time was up before mine. Who knows my time will be up before yours!
May we make use of each day He extends to us. Life is not living palms-up but palms-down. Life is not about getting but about giving. Life is never about us but always about God!
May our time have a blessed meaning each day as we walk hand in hand with our loving God. Like Bro. Ernie, let’s all prepare ourselves for HOME!
Have a blessed week ahead of you.

Condolences to the Arbolario Family

We would like to express our deepest sympathies on the recent passing of our brother in Christ, Ernie Arbolario. Our thoughts & prayers are with his family, Lidj, Miggy, Jeremy & Anna.
As one of the pioneers of BCCB way back when the congregation was just around 20, Brother Ernie stands as one of our most honorable pillar in this ministry – a mentor, a wise counselor, a man who pursues excellence, a good friend and one who has a remarkable sense of humor!
We will miss you, Brother/Tito Ernie.
